New EU-Minister
Birgitta Ohlsson, MP and spokesperson for the Liberal Party in foreign affairs, has been named EU-minister by the Swedish government. She is a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee in Parliament and head of the Liberal party’s women organization.

Study Trip to Brussels with AK Party Youth
On January 25-28, The Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation arranged a study visit to Brussels for a group of young politicians from the Turkish AK Party Youth.

New Embassies in the Balkans and the Caucasus
The Swedish government has decided to strengthen the Swedish presence in the Caucasus and in the Balkans. Today it was decided that the current offices in Pristina (Kosovo), Tbilisi (Georgia), Chisinau (Moldova) and Tirana (Albania), that up until this point have been administered from neighboring embassies, will be upgraded to embassies.

Concluding Section of Politicial School
December 18-20, 2009, the Foundation conducted the final section of its Political School for young politicians in Korosten, Ukraine. Running throughout 2009 the School has been divided into four distinctive parts. The participants were politically active members from the political party "Youth of Our Ukraine".
