The objective of the Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation is to assist center-right parties and organizations in building strong and democratic party structures. The aim is to promote co-operation and European integration on the basis of freedom, democracy, market economy, rule of law, human rights and tolerance.
The Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation builds networks, educating on politics and policy issues. In addition the Foundation offers assistance and advice on campaign methods, strategic development and media management, as well as advising on governmental contacts.
A major undertaking is to assure politicians the advantage of cooperation with political opponents. To convince them that such measures will strengthen the democratic system – within the party but also in society.

Yet another aspiration is to advise newly established democracy foundations around the world – in the same way that sister foundations assisted the Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation in the beginning.

The Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation runs projects in cooperation with the Olof Palme Center. This cooperation is crucial in areas where larger resources are needed than any of the two organizations can provide single-handedly. The joint projects focus on three areas: 1) Turkey, 2) developing quality assurance 3) fact-finding trips and selective measures.
