March 11-18, Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation hosted two conferences for youth politicians from Eastern Europe and Sweden, on the principles for a free society together with Nigel Ashford from Institute for Humane Studies at George Mason University. Basic concepts for a liberal democracy, as private property, free enterprise and toleration where among the issues discussed.
Protesters clashed with police and attacked government buildings in Bosnia last week. Leading politicians claim they understand citizens’ dissatisfaction with situation in the country.
On March 16 Serbia calls for re-election and the Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation organised last weekend together with the Moderate Party’s sister organisation United Regions of Serbia (URS, former G17+) a youth conference on campaign and communication in Belgrade, Serbia. (more…)

November 25-27, the Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation arranges a round-table conference on the Balkan EU integration and regional cooperation in Stockholm, with participants from the Balkans and Sweden.
October 25 – 27, 2013, Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation arranged a youth conference in Belgrade for youth from the Moderate’s sister party United Regions of Serbia (URS). The conference went under the theme of “ideology and policymaking” and was the first step in a four step program to promote democracy and European integration in the Balkan region. Accompanying speakers were Mr. Jonas Nilsson, director of public affairs at the Swedish Railways, and Mr. Veiko Lukmann, international secretary of Pro Patria and Res Publica Union in Estonia. In almost exactly one year, there will be elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) as well as on the entity-level, in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) and in Rpublika Srpska (RS). To strengthen female politicians in the upcoming campaign work, Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation organized a conference on campaign and communication in Banja Luka, October 4-6, 2013. (more…)

August 20-27, the Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation organised two conferences on ideology for youth politicians from Eastern Europe and Sweden in the small town of Nynäshamn south of Stockholm. The conference was based upon the book Principles for a Free Society, exclusively written for the Foundation by Professor Nigel Ashford. Chairman of the conference was Nigel Ashford, who usually works at the Institute for Humane Studies at George Mason University in Washington D.C. (more…)
