November 6-10 and 13-17 the Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation held conferences on ideology for politically active youth from the Balkans and the Eastern Neighborhood in Nynäshamn, south of Stockholm. The basis of the seminars was the book Principles for a Free Society by Dr Nigel Ashford and the lectures were led by leading opinion makers and Swedish politicians. The conferences aim to strengthen the ideological base among the participants with emphasis on understanding of democracy, human rights and market economy.

October 6-8, members of the Youth Organization of VMRO-DPMNE participated in a conference on social media in political campaigns. New strategies to campaign effectively were discussed as well as how to deliver a successful political message.

September 22-24, party representatives from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia and Sweden, met in Sarajevo to discuss Balkan’s EU-integration.

The discussions focused on the refugee crisis and the management of the Balkan route as well as how to increase opportunities in the region. The economic integration of the region was also discussed. The women´s round table conference aims to create stronger networks in the region and to increase the participation of women in politics and leading positions.

June 16-18, the Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation hosted a conference for youth politicians in Macedonia, focusing on political communication and the country’s challenges after the elections.

February 21-25, the Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation hosted a study visit to Stockholm for a group of youth politicians from Macedonia. The program focused on local politics and the group met with representatives from the Moderate Party and the Moderate Youth League, and visited the Swedish Parliament as well as Stockholm City Hall.

The Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation hosted on February 26-28 its annual regional women’s round-table conference in Stockholm. Invited were female representatives from our co-operation organisations in the Balkans. On December 3-5, the Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation invited representatives and leaders for the Moderate party’s sister organisations in the Balkans as well as other organisations and politicians concerned to a round-table conference in Stockholm. The red thread throughout the discussions were the recent developments in the region and the outlook for continuous European integration of the Balkan states into the European Union. November 11-18, the Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation organised two conferences on ideology for political active youth from the Eastern Neighbourhood. For the second time this year, Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation (JHS) arranged a study visit to Brussels for youth from the Macedonian ruling party, VMRO-DPMNE. The study trip, which lasted between 26 and 29 November, included visits to EU and NATO. The participants, mostly students, were members of the youth branch of the VMRO-DPMNE or active in local politics. (more…)
