September 9-11, the Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation hosted a conference in Jahorina, Bosnia & Herzegovina, for local politicians from the centre-right party PDP. Kristoffer Tamsons, Chairman of the traffic committee in Stockholm County Council, took part in the conference as a trainer and described his own experiences from Swedish local and regional politics, focusing on the importance of policy development and reforms.

June 29-July 1, the Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation in cooperation with the centre-right party PDP in Bosnia-Herzegovina hosts two trainings for youth and women policy makers. The trainings will focus on political communication, with lecturers from Sweden and the region.

On February 15, Bosnia-Herzegovina formally applied for EU-membership. The Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation has a long tradition of supporting European integration and coalition building in the country, and hosted on June 14 a seminar on the further integration process.

Invited to the seminar was Branislav Borenovic, President of the Party of Democratic Progress (PDP) and Chariman of the Committee for European integration and regional co-operation in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska. He presented his perspective on the latest developments. PDP is a coalition partner in the current government of Bosnia-Herzegovina. The seminar was moderated by Diana Janse, Senior Foreign Policy Adviser of the Moderate Party.

A new report describing Bosnia-Herzegovina’s road to European integration, published by the Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation, was released at the seminar.

Bosnia-Herzegovina formally applied for EU-membership on February 15. The Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation has for many years supported European integration and coalition building in the country as well as regional co-operation on the Balkans. Still, the need for reform is substantial and many challenges remain.

Invited were female representatives from our co-operation organisations in the Balkans. On December 3-5, the Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation invited representatives and leaders for the Moderate party’s sister organisations in the Balkans as well as other organisations and politicians concerned to a round-table conference in Stockholm. The red thread throughout the discussions were the recent developments in the region and the outlook for continuous European integration of the Balkan states into the European Union. November 11-18, the Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation organised two conferences on ideology for political active youth from the Eastern Neighbourhood. The conferences were held in Nynäshamn, south of Stockholm. Topics at the conference treated the principles from our book Principles for a Free Society by Dr Nigel Ashford. (more…)

Youth conference on “EU and political branding” with participants from SDA in Bosnia and Herzegovina

March 21 – 23, Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation hosted a conference for active political youth from SDA in cooperation with SDA Academy in Vogošća, Bosnia and Hercegovina. Almost twenty years after the Dayton Agreement, Bosnia and Herzegovina still stands before great challenges of which a deeper integration with the West is one of them.   (more…)
