November 14, the Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation arranged a luncheon on the deteriorating economic and political situation in Venezuela.
When Nicolás Maduro was selected as the successor of the late Hugo Chávez as President of Venezuela, he inherited a divided country, a wrecked economy and a corrupt system – in short a failed revolution. Now, a few months later, the economy requires emergency treatment; inflation has passed 50 percent and staples are in short supply.
Henrique Salas Römer, founder of the Proyecto Venezuela Party, one of the leading opposition parties, gives his view of the deteriorating situation in Venezuela. Mr Salas Römer visited Sweden together with a delegation of members of Parliament and members of regional and local assemblies.
