Arseniy Jatseniuk, Ukrainian opposition politician, party leader, former Foreign Minister and Speaker in Parliament will visit the Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation. Jatseniuk is a key figure in the attempts to unite the democratic opposition in Ukraine prior to the next parliamentary elections in October of this year.
Reports of the developments in Ukraine confirm that the democracy is suffering under President Viktor Yanukovych.
What does this mean to this year’s parliamentary elections? How democratic is Ukraine today? What about the opposition? What political issues interest the people of Ukraine?
The discussion will be moderated by MP Walburga Habsburg Douglas, who is also a member of the Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation Board and who recently visited Ukraine, hoping to meet with the detained former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko. Ms Habsburg Douglas and other female parliamentarians were stopped outside the prison.
Come and listen to Arseniy Jatseniuk that takes the pulse of the democratic developments in Ukraine.
Breakfast will be served.
