Elections in Georgia

Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation has the pleasure of inviting you to a lunch seminar.

Sunday, October 8, the people of Georgia goes to the polls to elect a new parliament, an important step for the state of democracy in the country.

The previous parliamentary election four years ago resulted in the first democratic transition of power in the country’s history. Since then, major concerns have been raised on the political situation, media independence and how the political majority treats the opposition.

Thornike Gordadze, Senior Advisor for Education, Research and Studies at the French Institut des Hautes Études de Défense Nationale (IHEDN) and Former State Minister for Euro-Atlantic Integration of Georgia will analyse the campaign and the election results. How will it affect the country’s path to European integration, what will the Russian response be and what does it mean for the Georgian people?

The seminar will be moderated by Ambassador Diana Janse, Senior Foreign Policy Advisor at the Moderate Party.

The seminar will be held in English.

Date: Thursday, October 13, 2016
Time: 12.00-13.00
Venue: Stora Nygatan 30, Stockholm

A light lunch will be served from 11.30
