On June 12-14, Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation arranged a conference in Prevall, near Prizren in Kosovo for young political activists, focusing on how to combat corruption and how to promote economic growth. The conference was arranged in co-operation with Youth of Democratic League of Kosovo (FRLDK) which is the youth organisation of Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) and co-operation partner of the Foundation.
Several speakers attended from Sweden and shared their expertise on effective anti-corruption work and how to accomplish economic growth. Swedish speakers were among others Göran Lennmarker, Chairman of the Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation, Kristina Lutz, Foreign Policy Adviser for the Swedish Moderate Party, and Arba Kokalari, Senior Project Manager at the Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation.
The participants had also the opportunity to brainstorm ideas in small groups and to discuss the situation in Kosovo with political leaders in the country. Speakers from Kosovo were Ismet Beqiri, Head of the Parliamentary Group as well as Secretary General of LDK, Naser Osmani, Chairman of the Committee of Finance and Budget in the Assembly of Kosovo, and Muharrem Sfarqa, Chairman of LDK in Ferizaj.
