Seminar on Nicaragua

November 29th, 2013   Countries and Regions | Latin America | News | Seminars

On December 6, Jarl Hjalmarson Foundation will arrange a seminar on the political situation in Nicaragua.

Daniel Ortega won the Presidential election in Nicaragua in 2006, with financial and moral support from his close ally, the ex-President of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez. Now, Ortega is striving to change the constitution in order to end the limits of presidential terms. If he succeeds it would allow him to stay in power indefinitely.

Azalia Aviles, chairman of the International Women’s Democrat Union, and Javier Baez Castellon, a political analyst and youth activist in Nicaragua, are coming to Sweden to give their views on the constitutional changes in Nicaragua.

The seminar will be held in English and a light lunch will be served.

Venue: Partistyrelserummet, Stora Nygatan 30, Old Town, Stockholm
