Online Censorship in Venezuela

The American think tank Freedom House condemns the Venezuelan government’s censorship of the online newspaper El Diario de Cuba, which has been blocked since January 14th after a number of articles  published on the website conserning President Hugo Chavez’s health. “Blocking access to internet sites threatens the fundamental right of access to information in a country where press freedom and freedom of expression are already constrained,” said Viviana Giacaman, director for Latin America Programs at Freedom House.
